I have a small/large obsession with icicles.

What's not to love???

Ok. Maybe I don't love that they can impale you. But even if you did get impaled by an icicle it would be a pretty cool story to tell....assuming you survived....

And apparently I want to be impaled because I was standing beneath the largest icicle known to man to take this picture... #yolo

Yes, you read that right, I just said yolo. I say it all the time and I hate it about myself. I try to pretend I use it ironically but I probably don't.

I am also obsessed with my Hunter boots and I get a lot of compliments on them so I couldn't help but share a picture.

For some reason I am really into making goals lately. I made a whole bunch of New Years Resolutions and I think I have been pretty good at keeping them. But I also need to set some super tangible goals, that I can accomplish in a given set of time. So I decided to set one goal for every month.
January: No Shopping.
I obviously started this at the beginning of the year and I have been super good and haven't bought anything that wasn't necessary. That might seem like a super easy goal for some people but it was rough for me. Can't wait to go on a shopping spree February 1st!!!
February: Exercise Month.
Ok, that sounds weird, but I really think that I need to be nicer to my body and one thing that will really help that is exercising. So I have put together a little plan that will challenge me but isn't too outrageous.
March: No Facebook.
This one will be hard. Very hard. I am scared even thinking about it. But hopefully it will good for me?
April: No Tabloids.
I don't buy tabloids that often but I check People and US magazine online at least three times a day. Wow, that sounds pathetic, but its true and I am giving that up for a month. Don't do anything crazy celebs!
May: Picture a day.
I spent a decent amount of money on my camera and I hardly ever use it. So I am going to take at least one picture every day with my real camera. No crappy phone pictures for me!
June: No fast food.
This one is hard to define. I think I am going to count McDonalds/Wendy's/other places like that. Hmmm sounds hard.
July: Read the Book of Mormon
I am going read the Book of Mormon in 31 days. That's quite a feat, but it will be summer so I will have plenty of time to read.
August: One act of kindness/service
I am going to do one act of intentional kindness every day. I try to always do nice things in my life but I am going to be very intentional about seeking things and people out to serve.
September, October, November, and December have yet to be decided. But as soon as I know I will be sure to update!
I feel really good about these goal. Has anyone else made a goal list like this? And do you have any suggestions for the other months??

I feel like I am beating a dead horse here and everyone is sick of hearing about this but Austin came home!

We went to Provo so he could visit some friends and it was so so so much fun!

I can not even believe he is home, but at the same time it feels like nothing has changed. Isn't it weird how that happens?? I am so glad to have him home!

But since he found out about this blog and then proceeded to read it I am not going to say anything else about that cause I get embarrassed.

Can not get over this song. It has been on replay for the past two weeks.
Now if I could just find someone to be my thrill....

Warning: This is mostly just a journal post for myself. And the pictures are terrible. Also, this post is from forever ago I just needed to get it out of my drafts folder.

Sometimes I go to Provo to see Michelle open her mission call, and these things happen.

I took this picture of Michelle before she even opened her call because people were sitting on my lap and I couldn't even see her lovely face when she actually opened her call.

She is going to San Jose California. And she leaves way too soon for my taste.

Love you Michelle!

Brooke always looks the cutest, don't you think?

Ok, maybe Lex is the cutest.

Ya I take pictures of people's Iphone screens. Brooke has me as her background, and I went a little crazy on Lex's instagram...

This is probably my favorite picture ever of Ivy. Despite the horrible lighting.

I had just given her that tiny Zayn as her Christmas present. And even though she doesn't seem very excited I think she really was.

So I always talk about how horrible Provo is but everytime I go there I really love being with my friends. I will never ever move there but I do love some of the people that live there.

In August I had big plans to be crafty. I spent way too much time on pintrest and then dragged Sarah with me to basically every craft store we knew of.

I decided to make a Tube (the undergroud train in London). Mostly because I thought it would look cool but also because I really truly miss looking at that map everyday.

So here is the process.

1. Get a tube map blown up to the size of your canvas.

2. Tape the map to your canvas and then poke hole on every turn that the specific line makes.

I worked on one line at a time. It made everything way less complicated. And if you know me then you know I need things to be as simple as possible.

3. Embroider the colors through the holes you poked.

4. Hang the pretty map up on the wall.

I am pretty proud of myself. This is probably the biggest project I have undertaken and I can not even believe I finished it!

I really love this song. And I have loved it for quite some time.
I have been listening to it a lot recently for some unexplained reason (and by unexplained reason I mean, there is a really good reason why but it is a secret)

So sometime last month I posted that Austin only had one more month left on his mission. But that was just a guess. He really had about 6 weeks left. I finally learned that when I stopped being a baby and facebook messaged his sister.

Once I found out the exact day he was getting home, I had to make a paper chain.

I mean, was there really any other option?

And since that was so fun. I decided to make one for Taft.

But I didn't really think about the fact that he doesn't get home until May...and that is a lot more days.

But I am crazy and I made it all.

And boy was it long.

I hung it up in my closet but it was blocking me from getting my clothes so I think I am going to get rid of it.

I will probably just get an app on my phone...much easier.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that Austin gets home today!!!!!!!!!!!

I usually don't like cat things but this one just kills me.

I love love love getting comments on my blog.
Like more than anything.
Actually I love getting letters in the mail more, but blog comments are a very close second.
Anyways, I am pretty sure that when I click reply on the comments I get, the commentor doesn't get notified. I am not sure how to change it so I just don't respond.
Bad, I know.
But just know that if you comment, I most definitely read it. And I love it! And it makes me whole day better.
So thank you. You're the best!

So last Thursday and Friday it snowed.

A lot.

My house got almost two feet of snow in 24 hours.

You can't really tell from that picture but the snow is just about to pile into my boots.

Ok. Not going to lie. This was basically just a post to show off my picture taking skills....that I think I have...

And my new boots.

But I also have something to say about the snow.

Everyone in Utah thinks they are way good at driving in the snow and that they will never get stuck.

That however is not true. People get stuck. And it sucks.

But when I see random strangers getting out of their nice warm cars and helping someone else get unstuck it just makes me so happy.

So thanks to everyone who helped someone else get out of the snow. That was super great of you. And I am sure it was really appreciated

And icicles are cool.

Taft is my cousin.
He is probably my best friend.
He is also on a mission in Japan right now.
Sunday nights are my favorite because I get an email from him!
But tonight he sent me one that said
"Yeah I understand the strain that counting to 120 would have on your little brain. Don't want it to work too hard or you might just shut down."
Who knew missionaries could be so rude??

Can someone please tell me why Blogger won't let me upload any pictures????
This is the worst!

Here is a remix of the top songs of 2012.
Kinda fun.
Me and Wesley once made a music video to the 2009 one.... we were cool back then....

I sincerely apologize for beating this point into the ground by Darcy is the worst.
For reference here are my other rants.
1 and 2
I recently watched the the Kiera Knightley Pride & Prejudice with my parents
(Yes I have the coolest life ever)
Luckily my mom agrees with me and thinks the Darcy in that version is the worst. I mean Colin Firth can pull it off. But Matthew Macfadyen is doing nothing but making us all mad.
During that craptastic scene where he is walking through the field towards Elizabeth with his heinous chest hair showing he says "I lo, lov, love. I love you"
And my hilarious mother said "Is he coughing up a hairball or telling her he loves her??"
I literally fell on the floor laughing.
Now I know exactly where my disdain for him comes from. And I love it. My mom is the best!
But I will say something positive about that movie. Stourhead is the most beautiful place on earth and I am so glad they used it in the movie.
Now Courtney can't be mad that I am bashing her precious Darcy cause I know she likes Stourhead too.
I promise I won't post another bashing post about Darcy...for at least two months...

I honestly think the best feeling in the world is when a book really moves you. When you are moved to feel or think in a way that you haven't before I think that is amazing.
The Age of Innocence is doing that to me right now.
The relationships are making me giddy and cringe at the same time. The social contraints of the society are making me both laugh and contemplate.  It is hurting my heart but at the same time I love it. I can not wait to see what happens in the end but I never want to stop reading it.
Its horrible but wonderful.
Too many emotions for me to handle.
Oh goodness. Aren't books just the best?
Let me also say that any book that gives me an image of a 19th century woman standing by the ocean is bound to be good. For some reason that kind of image is one of the most devastatingly beautiful things I can even imagine.
Oh, and that picture was drawn by my friend Wesley. He's the best.

I have always been envious of people that had really big dreams for their lives. That knew exactly what they wanted to do and had their whole lives planned out.
It seemed like they always had a goal and a direction for their lives. I have never felt like I had any real direction. I mean I have always had things I wanted to accomplish but not one big overarching thing that I wanted to do.
But I think I have figured it out.
I have been extraordinarily blessed. I have been able to travel all over the world and I have seen a lot of need. A lot of people with a lot of problems. And I feel this deep desire in my life to help.
I have changed my major yet again. My new major is "Health, Society, and Policy"
Sounds weird, right?
Its just a step along the way.
I am not positive where it will lead exactly but in my soul I think that I want to give the whole world clean water.
Sounds easy enough.
If I don't start with a huge goal I know I won't get anywhere.
I may not accomplish anything, but at the same time I may accomplish everything and that is worth the risk.

A few weeks ago I opened up my blinds to a surprise.
Someone had left me some lovely snowflakes on my window. I probably should have been a little concerned but what kind of weird peeping tom would leave snowflakes this pretty??
This is very unlike me, the girl who has to know everything about everyone, but I wasn't really concerned about who had put them there.
I was just happy that someone had thought of me and had put the effort into making some snowflakes and putting them on my window. I just felt like an overwhelming sense of love from whoever had put those on my window. I know it may seem like a tiny little gesture but to me it was huge.
A few days later the lovely Suzie texted me and said "Lest you think you have a stalker...those snowflakes are from me. Just a little Christmas cheer."
I was ecstatic. Like never been so happy. Sarah can attest because she was sitting next to me when I got the text.
Suzie, you are the best. Literally the best. I am beyond depressed that I won't get to spend every Tuesday night with you anymore. Don't you dare forget that we promised we would still be friends. You are wonderful and awesome!!!!! It meant more to me than you will ever know!

One time Christmas happened.
And here are some pictures...Beware, I got a little carried away.

This is how my mom described how to use the emergency glow sticks...

We only like to burn all our wrapping paper.

I am obsessed with this little face!!!

Probably don't even ask what is going on in this picture.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!!!
